Appendix D: Track Listing of Mono Master Tape SW 98151

Some of the acetates given by Dylan to Emmett Grogan came from Columbia's Job No. SW 98151, which was either a double-sided tape reel or a pair of single-sided reels.

Reel 1A

1.      Desolation Row

2.      Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues

3.      It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry

4.      Highway 61 Revisited

5.      Tombstone Blues

Reel 1B

6.      From A Buick 6

7.      Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?

8.      Queen Jane Approximately

9.      Ballad Of A Thin Man

10.   Positively 4th Street

All tracks are the mono mixes as released except for "Tombstone Blues", which is 14 seconds longer here. "Positively 4th Street" is as per the mono single; "Crawl Out Your Window" is the version mistakenly released as a single for a short time under the title "Positively 4th Street". "From A Buick 6" is the standard take rather than the alternate take released on some pressings of the stereo album; a mono mix of that alternate take did appear on another acetate given to Grogan, but that acetate was not apparently derived from the SW 98151 master reel.

"Like A Rolling Stone" is notable by its absence; possibly it was held on a separate reel under the same job number, or added at a later stage.
